Please submit the main page of your site only. The entire site should be a dedicated teen directory / links page / search engine. If your teen-aimed web site doesn't have a large number of links, please submit to another category within Kids and Teens as it will not be included here.

This category is for sites that are links to teenage sites. This can be in the form of a links page, search engine or directory. Most web sites will include ratings and reviews of the linked-to teen sites.

Driver's Education

An important part of every teenager's life is the experience of learning how to drive. In this category you will find helpful sites related to teen drivers and new drivers alike.

Fashion

Please submit sites only dealing with general Teen fashion sense.

Shopping sites are not allowed in the Kids and Teens Directory, and if inappropriate will be deleted.

This category contains resources specifically for and about Teen Life as relates to Girls. Includes groups, clubs, societies, email lists, magazines, e-zines, forums, and chat sites.

This category contains resources specifically for and about Teen Life as relates to Girls. Includes groups, clubs, societies, email lists, magazines, e-zines, forums, and chat sites.

Issues

All sites suggested to this category must be designed for use by teens and provide information about issues which are important to them.

The following types of sites will not be accepted:

  • Sites designed for parents or teachers, or to sell products or services;
  • Sites that are derogatory or defile persons, ideas, or objects or are flame sites.

This category is not for sites that pertain to personal issues of an individual person or for Personal Homepages.

This category contains web sites which deal with controversial or current issues which are of importance to teenagers.

Topics may include career planning, government and politics, news, religion, sexuality, suicide, and truancy.

Magazines and E-zines

Please only submit sites which are geared towards teenagers. Sites who focus on marketing or selling products to Teens should be listed under Shopping, and will not be accepted in this section. Sites which are not updated frequently will also not be accepted.
Magazines, articles, or mailing lists that are published on-line, or are the on-line version of a magazine or newspaper geared towards teenagers.

Memorial Pages

This category lists pages and sites which pay tribute to deceased teenagers. Sites may be created by grown-ups or teens.

Online Communities

Please submit sites that are strictly for teens. All submitted sites should provide a place for young people to interact with each other and "leave their mark" on the site. Sites that are strictly for kids or for kids and teens should be submitted to Kids_and_Teens/People_and_Society/Online_Communities/.

No site is guaranteed placement in the Open Directory. Any site still under construction, submitted to multiple inappropriate categories, using multiple URLs for multiple submissions, or consisting primarily of affiliate links to products will be deleted.

Online Communities are sites where people with similar interests can communicate with each other, learn, and contribute. Contribution is the defining factor of an online community.

Sites in this category must be strictly for teens. They must be sites where young people can interact with each other and "leave their mark" on the site. Sites that offer clubs, give kids a chance to write reviews, and sites that offer free home pages are good examples of online communities. However, just offering one of these things doesn't make a site a community. Sites for this category will be carefully screened and must meet the criteria of a community.

Proms

Any sites strictly selling gowns and/or other prom accessories must submit to the appropriate Shopping category in the ODP. E-commerce sites are not accepted into any category within Kids and Teens.

Sexuality

Please submit only sites of interest to and suitable for teenagers. Informational websites about teen sexuality that are directed toward the interests and concerns of parents or other adults are not appropriate for this Kids & Teens category, but may be submitted to other areas of the Open Directory.

Do not submit sites intended primarily to sell a product or service. They will not be listed in this category.

Submissions will be screened for their suitability to an adolescent audience. Sites will not be listed if they include profanity, obscenity, or sexually explicit content.

Sites oriented to and suitable for a teen audience, about puberty, sexual orientation, and other aspects of sexuality, including dating behavior, abstinence, sexual activity, birth control, disease prevention, and the consequences of sexual activity. It also includes the issue of sexual assault.

Suicide

Submit sites with information about how to prevent or by those affected by teenage suicide.

Information on causes and where to locate help for teenagers and others contemplating or affected by suicide.
