1   Q: Where should I submit my site in the Open Directory Project?
A: Conduct a search of the Open Directory using keywords that relate to your site.
The search results will serve up listings from different categories.
Go to those categories and determine which one is most appropriate for your site.
Be sure to review the subcategory descriptions, whenever possible,
to determine if your site is appropriate to that category or subcategory.

2   Q: What if my site fits under a lot of categories?
A: Please submit your site to only one category - to the best category possible.
Multiple submissions, especially to inappropriate categories, will not be tolerated.

3   More tips
If your website concerns real estate - buying, selling, leasing, developing properties, property management
or studying real estate, please find an appropriate category in Business/Real Estate.
Property rentals, design, contracting, construction and home builders are also located in Business.

World is for sites in languages other than English. Each has categories of its own.

Shopping is for retail and online sales sites.

Regional contains many listings for specific localities.
If your organization serves a small geographic area, Regional may be the best location for your listing.

4   Q: My site used to be listed in the Open Directory, but I can't find it now.
A: Periodically our Mega-editor (affectionately known as Robzilla) runs through the URLs.
If your site is returned as a '404 Not Found' or with some other error message,
an editor may temporarily remove your listing.
If the site remains unreachable for a few days, you may need to re-submit.
Please keep your URL current with us.

Your listing may also have been moved to another, more pertinent category, or it may be listed under another URL because we have noticed that it redirects to or frames another URL - in these cases we list the 'real' URL.
