Where should I submit my site? | | A: |
Sites submitted to either Home/Family/Family_Websites or Society/People/Personal_Homepages often fit much better in one of the following categories.
- Genealogy, family trees and grandparents:
If the site seems to be a genealogy site, but deals with specific people less than 5 generations in the past, please do *not* submit the site to Society/Genealogy, but submit it elsewhere. If the genealogy site deals with specific people, specific lineages or specific family trees, please submit it to
Society/Genealogy/Personal_Pages. If the genealogy site deals with a surname without any reference to specific people, please submit it to Society/Genealogy/Surnames.
- Journals, diaries and stories:
If the site is an on-line diary of sorts, please submit it to either
Computers/Internet/On_the_Web/Weblogs (if it contains more than roughly 75% non-personal content and/or assumes that readers have internet access) or Arts/Online_Writing/Journals (if it contains less than roughly 75% non-personal content and/or does not assumes that readers have internet access). If the site is a travelogue, a travel journal or is largely made up of travel stories, please consider submitting it to
Recreation/Travel/Travelogues.
- Sites by or about children:
If the site is about a baby, please submit it to Home/Family/Babies/Baby_Homepages. If the site is authored by grandparents and if the site is about either being a grandparent or their grandchildren, please submit it to Home/Family/Grandparents/Personal_Pages. If the site's specific target audience is children, and if it is a child's or teenager's homepage, and if the site contains no profanity and nudity, you may submit it to Kids_and_Teens/People_and_Society/Personal_Homepages.
- General family and personal site:
If the site is a personal homepage, please consider submitting it to the appropriate at-linked category in Society/People/Personal_Homepages/By_Subject or Society/People/Personal_Homepages/By_Region. If the site is a family website, and if there are 4 or more children in the family, you may submit it to Home/Family/Large_Families/Personal_Pages.
